US President Barack Obama honored victims of the Srebrenica genocide, Europe’s single largest killing since the Holocaust: “On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the genocide at Srebrenica, and on behalf of the United States, I join my voice with those who are gathered to mourn a great loss and to reflect on an unimaginable tragedy.” He added that the Srebrenica genocide was a “stain on our collective conscience.”
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stated: “I join President Obama and the people of the United States in offering our deepest condolences on this most solemn occasion. We honor the memories of the victims and mourn with their families.”

#1. Some 60,000 people attended 15th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, the worst crime in Europe since the Nazi era. Bosniaks prayed near coffins of 775 newly identified Srebrenica victims during a mass funeral at the Srebrenica Genocide Memorial in Potocari on July 11, 2010. Fifteen years ago, more than 8,000 Bosniak men and boys were killed, some 30,000 Bosnian Muslims forcibly expelled and many women and girls brutally raped. The victims were shot and dumped in mass graves, then reburied haphazardly in more than 80 mass graves in a bid to cover up the evidence. So far, the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) identified 6,481 victims of the July 1995 genocide through DNA method. Serbian President Boris Tadic, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner, and President Obama’s delegation led by U.S. Ambassador Charaler L. Engleish were among the dignitaries attending the event.
